Description

Nabia was an Iberian goddess of rivers and waters, occupying a similar position to the Roman Jupiter within the Iberian pantheon. Although chiefly a goddess, she had both female and male aspects, and was possibly two entirely separate gods. Primarily worshipped in the Lusitanian heartland, Nabia was revered throughout the northwest of the peninsula. In fact, the Navia, Neiva, Nabao and Avia rivers in modern-day Spain and Portugal are all named for her, signifying the goddess' longstanding importance as a one who represented the nourishment and health brought forth from flowing waters.
